Anthropology of Appalachian Music

This online course is an interdisciplinary examination of the regional music of Appalachia and its cultural impact on world society. The students will discuss the historical roots of Appalachian music; the anthropological and sociological implications of music on the Appalachian people; the structure of the music itself; different types of instruments and basic techniques of each and more.
